What a fabulous extension to include on any trip to Brazil! The falls are wonderful - all 214 of them! From the Brazilian side you walk along the river on a safe, yet twisty path. It works its way down the side of the ravine while you get stependous views of the falls and see iguanas and other wildlife in the grasses to the side of the path. Take lots of water and wear a hat! Surely not advice that needs to be reminded these days! About 1/2 way along there is a comfort station and you can sit, rest, purchase water or other drinks as well as take in the ambience of the area.
Once to the lower levels of the ravine, you begin to view the falls from the bottom up and as you get closer, the spray comes across. Nearing the end of the path, there is a boardwalk out over the river and close to the Devil's Throat - the centrepiece of the falls. Although it can be crowded, the view is spectacular in both directions and photos abound!
The falls are of all different sizes, widths, heighths, velocities. Small, tall, wide, rushing, trickling, loud, silent - virtually every type of fall in included in this area - carved out simply by one river.
What is also neat to note - you can spot them from the air when you fly in, seeing the spray rising above the ground and seeing the winding river curl back creating the central falls area.
As you walk on a little further, there is another boardwalk out over the river - shorter distance and some falls are directly on your left. There is also a large tourist centre which includes an elevator up to the main road level, should you need it as well as a gift shop, beverage counter, washrooms etc.
You may choose to walk back to the hotel area (starting point of the path) by road, or board your coach for a ride. The temperature is hot, the air is humid, and it is wise to pace yourself carefully.
Depending on how slowly you walk, how many pictures you stop to take, the number of people on the trail with you, the time of day vis a vis the heat and humidity, the entire walk to the centre will take about 1-2 hours. Walking back will add more time. However, this is what you've come for - so enjoy every minute!
Next time - thoughts about the Argentinian side of the Iguacu Falls!

Travels
My goal for this blog is two-fold. One is to share useful tidbits of info for travellers as they come along. The second is to share my experiences of trips I've taken. Many of you know I was in South America earlier this year and in England in June. On a weekly basis I'll update my blog with stories and thoughts about these trips.
I'm looking forward to any feedback or suggestions you might have, of things you'd like to hear about.
All for today - but do watch this space!

Early Booking Bonuses
I've long had the slogan - An Early Booking Bonus, is only a Bonus, if you Book Early! Try saying that three times quickly! And for clients - if they don't do it, whilst saying it - the deals are gone! For folks following me, it's just a reminder that many of the EBBs out there, come to an end in mid October. So, if you are interested in some great deals, now is the time to get in contact with me!
More another day,
